Intergroup Voted to Continue

An extra Intergroup meeting was held on 2-18-12, to address the motion on 1-21-12, to close Intergroup for lack of consistent attendance and participation. A discussion was held to brief attendees on the history and reason for this motion.

The motion was not passed, 5-2, with 2 abstentions. Immediately following the vote an Intergroup Chairperson was voted to serve Intergroup as well as a new treasurer, relieving James R. of his position.

It was decided by the 1-21-12 Intergroup attendees that a vote will take place at a so-called “special Intergroup”, to be held on February 18, 2012 whether to continue with Intergroup as a central unit responsible for the helpline, schedule, and website maintenance, as well as other duties.

If the vote is to close Intergroup, those in attendance will discuss how to pass on those three primary provisions to the area meetings and request that responsiblity be taken for each.

Capital Region Integroup Shutdown Potential

There are several Intergroup officers and regular attendees who have decided personally that they will not be able to continue with their duties should a quorum of 2 officers and 2 fellowship members not occur for the next 3 Intergroups (1/21, 3/17, 5/19 of 2012). More will be discussed this Saturday at the Intergroup meeting - 11:30 at Pine Grove Methodist Church in Albany. There is no requirement for attendance at Intergroup beyond attendance at SLAA meetings.

The consequence of these resignations would be the shutdown of a number of Intergroup Provisions. The decision is based primarily on a lack of attendance at Intergroup and the inability to sometimes not meet for 2 or 3 out of the 6 yearly Intergroup meetings.

Intergroup meeting location change

Intergroup will temporarily be meeting at Pine Grove Methodist Church, on Central Avenue, Albany at 11:30am Saturday 5-19-11. Intergroup will decide at that point whether to keep that location or to decide on an alternate location. That decision was not made on 3-19-11 because there was not a quorum, therefore Intergroup was not held.

First Annual Albany SLAA-thon on 4-16-11

The Shamebusters meeting, which takes place Saturday mornings at 9am at Pine Grove Methodist Church, is holding a SLAA-Thon on April 16. The regular meeting will take place at 9:00, to be followed by the event,

The format is:

11:15am-12:15pm Workshop #1: Setting bottom and top lines

12:15-1:15pm: Lunch Break

1:15-2:15pm: Workshop #2: How to actively work the 12 steps

2:30-3:30pm: Workshop #3: Healthy relationships and dating in sobriety

Coffee, tea, water, fruit and nuts will be provided in a hospitality room, as well as an open alternate space between and during workshops. Feel free to bring your own lunch.

SLAA-thon on 2-13-11

The Annual SLAA-thon will be taking place on February, Sunday 13, starting at 1pm. It will be taking place at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 624 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY. It is hosted by the Saratoga “Homestretch Group”.

Three one-hour-and-fifteen-minute meetings will be held, to be followed by the regular Saratoga “Homestretch Group” meeting at 7:30.
The first meeting will be co-ed, from 1:00-2:15 (”Experience - Bottom Lines and Withdrawal“); the second meeting will be split up into two - a men’s and a women’s meeting, from 2:30-3:45 (”Strength - Stepwork“); the third meeting will be a co-ed meeting, from 4:00-5:15 (”Hope - Top Lines“). A potluck dinner will follow, feel free to bring a covered dish to share. We hope to see you there!

The Capital Region Meeting Schedule has been updated, reflecting these recent changes:

Closing of the Monday Night Stone Ridge meeting.
Closing of the Saratoga Women’s Meeting.
Closing of the Bennington, VT meeting.

Our last schedule update included the dates of our regional business meeting, or “Intergroup” for 2011. It meets Saturdays once every two months. Click below to access.

There is a women’s meeting in Saratoga on Monday nights that is now on the schedule.
