Updated schedule as of 03-02-09

The Intergroup Secretary, Pete, sent me a note with some updates to meetings.  I’ve copied the contents of his email to me.

Hey Bill, just wanted to check in about a few schedule-related things.

I heard/noticed that some changes were made to the schedule reflecting groups’ web presence, and saw a few corrections, and have had some changes since, and follow-up questions which are probably just rhetorical until Intergroup.  (But please share your thoughts if you care to.)

-The Sunday @ 7:30 (Colonie) meeting just voted at our business meeting to have full web presence (i.e. the street address listed).
-The Saturday Pine Grove meeting’s directions are partially covered up now so that it only reads the end part of the directions.
-The Friday Newtonville @ 7:30 (listed as Latham) voted to have full web presence before the Jan intergroup, but says to call the hotline.

I guess we can bring this up at Intergroup, but does a group not submitting a vote or voting against full presence necessarily mean that they would not be listed?  I suppose if they followed up, and asked that it not be list, that I would understand, until we are able discuss it at Intergroup. But I was thinking that the default would be to list the group’s address, unless it was specifically requested by a group rep.

Sometime soon I’d like to figure out my access to the site so I take future schedule changes off your hands.

Thanks for all your hard work, Bill.
Pete.

The format of the meeting schedule and what the default position is around street addresses will be discussed at the next Intergroup meeting, Saturday, March 21 at 11:30am at St. George’s in Clifton Park.

Tuesday Men’s meeting vote on 3/3 whether to move

UPDATE: On Tue 3/3 the meeting will stay at its’ temporary location of 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, to hold its’ business meeting.  During this business meeting a vote will be taken and a decision made whether or not to move the meeting permanently to 1 Maria Drive.

If you have an opinion one way or the other please show up to the business meeting to vote!!

As you recall the impetus to change were very cold conditions at the 1 Exchange St location.

New meeting in Bennington, VT

There is now a meeting in Bennington, VT.  Even though “officially” Bennington is part of the Western NE Intergroup I felt that it was important that we make people aware of a meeting that could be a very short drive for people in the Capital Region.

Meeting information:
Saturday noon
Turning Point Club
465 Main St.
Bennington, VT
Co-ed. Step, Speaker, Topic meeting depending upon week of the month.

Yours in recovery,
Bill R, Intergroup Chair

Tuesday Men’s Meeting trying out a new location

NOTICE: For the next 3 weeks, Tue 2/10, Tue 2/17, and Tue 2/24 the Tuesday Night Men’s meeting is going to be moving to a new location for a trial run.  The new location is the OTHER St. Francis de Sales Church at 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, NY.

UPDATE: On Tue 3/3 the meeting will stay at its’ temporary location of 1 Maria Drive to hold its’ business meeting.  During this business meeting a vote will be taken and a decision made whether or not to move the meeting permanently to 1 Maria Drive.

The impetus for this change was the extremely cold conditions at the 15 Exchange St location.  If you have any questions please come to the Tuesday night meeting to discuss further.

SLAA “meetings” via e-mail

Are you looking for more ways to be in contact with members of SLAA?

Perhaps a moderated email distribution list is the way to go for you!

SLAAsupport
SLAAsupport is a restricted membership, anonymous mailing support list with no public archives. The list was created for adults in search of support from s*x and love or relationship addiction, or avoidance.

The only qualification for SLAA support email list membership is a desire to stop living out a pattern of s*x and love addiction, or avoidance and that you are seriously looking for support in recovering from your obsessive compulsive actions, stemming from this very real addiction.

This list is restricted to members only, and it is NOT a place to act out fantasies or find partners with which you can act out. This is about recovery from s*x and love addiction.

Message from the #SLAA room:
This is a great place to spend your recovery time in between face-to-face meetings.  We are all friends and welcome all newcomers and long timers alike.  We are a mixture of men and women from many countries, joining at our respective times for regular meetings.  Often members “hang out” between meetings to simply chat about their recovery.

NOTE: The format of the scheduled meetings are like that of face to face meetings.  There are boundaries, no cross talking allowed, and there is a chairperson who calls on people.
