Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

NOTICE: For the next 3 weeks, Tue 2/10, Tue 2/17, and Tue 2/24 the Tuesday Night Men’s meeting is going to be moving to a new location for a trial run.  The new location is the OTHER St. Francis de Sales Church at 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, NY.

UPDATE: On Tue 3/3 the meeting will stay at its’ temporary location of 1 Maria Drive to hold its’ business meeting.  During this business meeting a vote will be taken and a decision made whether or not to move the meeting permanently to 1 Maria Drive.

The impetus for this change was the extremely cold conditions at the 15 Exchange St location.  If you have any questions please come to the Tuesday night meeting to discuss further.

SLAA 12 Step Weekend Retreats – 2009

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

The retreats are held in Chester, Vermont.  The retreats are facilitated and coordinated by the New England Intergroup of SLAA.

2009 Dates: March 27-29, July 17-19, October 2-4, December 18-20

Step study is a key tool to recovery in the S.L.A.A. program.

At the retreat weekends we do an intensive study of the 12 Steps — together.

If you have worked on the Steps in this type of format before, you already know its value. If you have not done any study of the Steps, intensive or otherwise, this is a great way to do it, especially the first time. Regardless of where we are in the Step study process, we are able to learn from sharing our experience, strength and hope with each other.

SLAA “meetings” via e-mail

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Are you looking for more ways to be in contact with members of SLAA?

Perhaps a moderated email distribution list is the way to go for you!

SLAAsupport
SLAAsupport is a restricted membership, anonymous mailing support list with no public archives. The list was created for adults in search of support from s*x and love or relationship addiction, or avoidance.

The only qualification for SLAA support email list membership is a desire to stop living out a pattern of s*x and love addiction, or avoidance and that you are seriously looking for support in recovering from your obsessive compulsive actions, stemming from this very real addiction.

This list is restricted to members only, and it is NOT a place to act out fantasies or find partners with which you can act out. This is about recovery from s*x and love addiction.

NOTE: The format of this email list is more like fellowship after a meeting.  Far less boundaried than during a normal face to face meeting that we have here in the Capital Region.

The #SLAA Online Group was founded on January 30, 1996.  #SLAA Online Group meetings are held using Internet Relay Chat (IRC) on Starlink-IRC.org servers in the #SLAA room (occasionally in the #SLAA2 room).

In order to get into the recovery chat room you will need to install an IRC client or you can access a web portal to the chat room.

The link to the web portal is: http://www.starlink-irc.org/index.webchat.html

You can also download and use your own irc client like mIRC or Visual IRC to name a few.

Message from the #SLAA room:
This is a great place to spend your recovery time in between face-to-face meetings.  We are all friends and welcome all newcomers and long timers alike.  We are a mixture of men and women from many countries, joining at our respective times for regular meetings.  Often members “hang out” between meetings to simply chat about their recovery.

NOTE: The format of the scheduled meetings are like that of face to face meetings.  There are boundaries, no cross talking allowed, and there is a chairperson who calls on people.

Launching of the website for the Capital Region Intergroup of SLAA

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

At the Saturday January 17, 2009 business meeting for Intergroup it was decided that we should have a web presence.  It was further decided that our complete schedule be published at this site.

Please provide your comments to your group representative and we can take feedback at the next Intergroup meeting on March 17, 2009.

Thanks for everyone’s hard work on this and their willingness to adhere to the rules of group conscience.

Yours in recovery,
